Abstract
Latino immigrants in the United States have been described as criminals and illegal aliens here to infiltrate this country. My research has focused on breaking down these stereotypes and understanding their experiences. How does being undocumented affect their everyday lives? My Summer Fellows research consisted of reading the work of anthropologists and sociologists to understand the experiences of undocumented Latino immigrants in the United States. These researchers detail experiences of fear, anxiety, and stress that affect undocumented individuals in various ways. The immigrants who experience these stressors often experience trouble with their health, education, work, and personal lives. Understanding the lives of undocumented Latino immigrants is important so that I may break down any misconceptions and help others understand the process of immigration. This research is serving as the basis for what may be an Honors Thesis.
